Ajuga reptans 'Chocolate Chip'
Chocolate Chip Ajuga has small, glossy, bronze-maroon and green foliage. It is compact growing to just 2" high and performs more like a clumper spreading less by stolons with a slower growth habit than other reptans. Chocolate Chip Ajuga is suitable for small areas and at the edges of pathways and borders. Lilac-blue, 2" tall flower spikes shoot up putting on a brilliant show in Spring. Plants can be mowed on high to remove spent flowers. Ajuga thrives in humusy soil and will grow fine in average, well drained soil. Will tolerate occasional dry soil but prefers regular watering. Plant in areas with good air circulation in hot, humid climates to prevent crown rot. Good for small areas as ground cover, edging, borders, pathways and rock gardens. Mature height 2", spread 6"-8"
