Hypericum calycinum

St John's-wort

Hypericum calycinum is a semi-evergreen ground cover, spreading by stolons.  Leaves are green to blue-green, 3" x 1" elongated leaves.  Blooms yellow in early Summer, 2"-3" in diameter.  Cut back late Winter/early Spring to remove brown leaves when winterburned.  South - if evergreen, cut back every 3 years to rejuvenate.  Recommended for moderate to large areas.  Not appropriate for small gardens.  Prefers well drained soil with average watering.  Prefers some shade in zones 7, otherwise thrives in full sun.  Mature height 12"-18", spread 24"
