Ajuga reptans 'Catlin's Giant'

Catlin's Giant Bugleweed

Catlin's Giant Ajuga has glossy, bronze purple/near black, crisp foliage.  Catlin's Giant spreads by stolons with vigor.  Deep Blue, 4"-6" tall flower spikes shoot up putting on a brilliant show in Spring.  Plants can be mowed on high to remove spent flowers and to cut back foliage if needs renewing.  Ajuga thrives in humusy soil and will grow fine in average, well drained soil.  Will tolerate occasional dry soil but prefers regular watering.  Plant in areas with good air circulation in hot, humid climates to prevent crown rot.  Good for large areas as ground cover, on slopes and edges of pathways and rock gardens.  Mature height 5"-7", spread 18"-24"
