Ceratostigma plumbaginoides

Dwarf Plumbago

Ceratostigma plumbaginoides is dormant/semi-evergreen, matt forming perennial spreading by rhizomes.  Foliage emerges burgundy, later turning to green.  Leaves are 1½" long and ¾" wide.  Foliage turns bronze in the Fall.  Dwarf Plumbago or Leadwort is a vigorous grower in optimum conditions.   Blooms mid Summer thru Fall.  Blooms are a rich blue growing in clusters at top of the foliage stems.  Ceratostigma is tolerant of most soil types.  Prefers average, well drained soil.   Afternoon shade is needed in warmer climates.  Useful as a ground cover where evergreen foliage is not needed.  Mature height 6"-10", Spread 12"-24"
